April 27, 2020     Repeat current grade

The current shutdown despite the sorrowful loss of so many lives due to the covic-19 pandemic
can perhaps have a benefit for the children, the students of our country.  What?  Can anyone
say some good can come out of our children being away from the classroom for half of the
normal school year.  My opinion, and it is only, and opinion based on many years of being
involved with the educational community in my little school district.  In an interview posted on
the Rocky Mountain News in 1972 I shared my concerns regarding the educational system in
our community.

I continued to focus on the needs of children in a few venues to include the need for adequate
reform within the education of students from pre-K through graduation.  Sadly, what many in
the education community determined that it was better to just get students through the system
then to truly education them.  The result of this thinking is what we now are witnessing not
only in my community but throughout the nation.  I will not focus on thoughts of whom to
blame but perhaps in this opinion piece to offer a possible solution.

Now for my solution to the matter of how we will transition and meet the education needs of
our children when the doors to the schools are reopened.  My suggestion is to keep every
student in the same grade they were in when the lockdown began, except for those students that
would are withing the 2020 graduation class, I also have a remedy for the class of 2021.

My concept would not be a matter of holding students back, much as in the manner of days
past when a student would flunk a grade, but more in the concept of allowing students and
educators to build on the achievements the students receive in the classroom prior to the
pandemic and the lockdown.  Incidentally in colleges and universities across the nation this is
called remediation.

We do not need to create a dilemma of the unfortunate results of the covid-19 pandemic but
create a solution by the KISS concept (keep it simple silly).  Over the years, since 1968 when I
got involve in the activities of my school district, we have looked to the greatest minds in
education to educate our children.  So why not use the great mind of today’s educators build on
the concept of what has rebuilt disasters of the past to create the success of today.  It can be
accomplished.
Make no mistakes!  The pandemic that has engulf not only our local community, but the entire
world is horrific.  Covid 19 has placed every citizen on edge, more so if you fall into the
category of being in a critical segment of our society.  Individual who are in the most
endangered age group or those who have a preexisting health issue.  The total of our society is
seeking the latest developments on the direction of where this virus is taking the nation, so
many are glued to the internet social media or radio and television reports.

In the process of getting all the data I seek on this matter the least trustworthy information I
find comes from the mainstream media and specifically from those journalists who seek to put
out is most negative.  Yes, most negative and have the least amount of truth, this I find as I seek
out two or three other sources when I see what they are reporting.  The more I investigate what
is being reported the more I see they, the mainstream media, look to put out half-truths or
outright lies.  Oh, by the way I also include a number of these half-wit journalist who report for
Fox News and I have little to say about the other who report what has now commonly known as
fake news.

I have asked myself countless times as to why are so many journalists appear focused on
undermining the freedoms we have under the constitution of the United States.  Serving at the
will of progressives many walk lockstep with those who desire to take America into a nation of
socialistic ideals.  America was founded on freedoms for its citizens and that includes freedom
of the press.  However, rouge journalist, fake journalist moves more and more towards
curtailing the freedoms enjoyed by the masses, freedom of speech, assembly, religion, bear arms
while using their freedom as the instrument to diminish all others.
\
Like the progressives that want now to control all the United States with what can be described
as a godless direction, fake journalist with their yellow tabloids or edited sound bites on the
tube, radio, or social media.  The direction rouge journalist are taking the nation with their half
truths or outright lies was well recorded in these words written countless years ago.  “Woe unto
them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that
put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!” Isaiah 5:20 |

Some studies indicate that as many as 7 million people may have died from starvation
during the great depression.

Between one and two million people were homeless during the great depression.

Many people ended up homeless during the great depression because they lost their jobs
and had no money.

Sadly about 6 to 7 million kids died of starvation or sickness during the great depression.

Many people died due to illness, malnutrition, and suicide, it is estimated that about 40,
000 people committed suicide during the great depression.

There was no transportation, people had to walk during the great depression.

About fifty percent of African Americans were out of work during the great depression.

Discriminatory practices worsened during the great depression.

12 million people lost their jobs during the great depression.

Farmers lost their lives numbering millions during the great depression.

People relieved their stress by taking it out on other people (children and wives) during the
great depression.

A social effect was an increase in crime during the great depression.
Do you really listen to others even if they are repetitive? If you don't shame on you...
if you do you'll be blessed...
When dealing with someone who is being rude or unkind remember this famous
quote:
“Every soul is deprived of the truth against it’s will.”
- Plato
This means that when someone is rude to you there are really only three options.
1.) Either this person is correct, in which case you have no cause to complain.
2.) This person is simply mistaken and they’ve made an error.
3.) This person is just being rude and trying to provoke you to do something sinful.
Something that you will regret later. Don’t do it!
What Jesus taught us was to forgive our trespassers.
What Jesus taught us was to listen to our brothers and sisters with an open and
loving heart.
He taught us this because he didn’t want us to sin in response to others sinning
against us.
If everyone responded in sin to everyone else’s sin, then we will just simply have a
world of sin.
A world of hatred, a world of anger, a world of isolation. A world without God or
God’s people. No way out.
No one wants that.
So...
When you find people are angry or rude, realize that they are probably frustrated.
They’re angry because something that has deep meaning to them has been violated.
Something important to them.
Even if you don’t agree with the reason why they are angry, you cannot ignore their
anger and frustration. If you ignore it, the hatred will infect you, and others like a
virus.
We must choose Love instead.
We must choose Jesus
Why do I mention all of this stuff in a simple post about communicating with each
other?
Because of the core of our communication problems is the fact that we don’t respect
each other’s problems. We don’t respect each other‘s pain. We are all too caught up
in problems of our own. We are all self-absorbed.
Open your heart to your brothers and sisters. Open your heart to their pains, to their
fears. Open your heart.
Watch what happens when you just listen for a moment.
When you validate someone for the pain that they’re feeling, they change.
When you do all of these things before you make your counterpoint, you change.
Take the time to listen to your brothers and sisters.
They will love you for it, and that will make it easier for you to love them back.
In Jesus name I pray.
