Communication Report for the Board Meeting of February 14, 2012
January 25, 2012 – Report, Area Boards
Commerce City Council, Mayor Sean Ford
Will continue with the present positions of Brian McBroom as interim City Manager
and Chuck Saunier as interim Police Chief.
Moving along with the city council to develop partnerships with neighboring
communities including Adams 14 and 27J and all of the local government entities.
Mayor desires to coordinate with Adams 14 to redevelop the Youth In Government
program at the high school
So. Adams Co. Fire Protection District, Ron LaPenna, Fire Marshal
Announced additional staffing in the Fire Department, they now have 24/7 coverage.
So. Adams Co Water & Sanitation District, Larry Ford, Board Member
Announced a new Administration Building will begin very soon at the same location
of their old Ad. Building.
They have increased repair and replacement of the existing system which is better
than 20 years old.
Rocky Mountain Arsenal Wildlife Refuge Center
Sent out an invitation to the community to visit the Refuge, especially the students in
the A14 schools.
Community Health,
Reported a verity of cutbacks in services because of the cutbacks from their granting
agencies.
January 28th, 2012 – Met with the leadership of the United Neighborhood Groups
and started the process to revamp the organization to include neighborhood in local
cities as well as the unincorporated communities of Adams Co.
February 2nd, 2012 - Attended the installation of the new officers of the Classified
Union, the CCSEA.
February 6th, 2012 – Attended the presentation by Dr. Kandy Cassady at Prairie
Middle school with the entire BOE.
February 7th, 2012 – Attended a special BOE meeting.
February 8th, 2012 – Attended the BOCES board meeting, received a rather in-depth
presentation on 2012 Actuarial Report.
February 8th, 2012 – Visited the PreK and Kindergarten classes at Hanson, Monaco
and Dupont.
February 9th, 2012 – Attended the Kemp School musical.
